"Quilt
Show of The Little Mountains"
The
Contented Heart Quilt Guild will again sponsor the Quilt Show of the
Little Mountains. At last year's show, we displayed 147 quilts and we
expect that many and more this year. Along with the beautiful quilts,
our visitors enjoy the decorations displayed with the quilts. Fine porcelain
and pottery items will be displayed with the quilts this year. Another
favorite of visitors is the antique quilt display. It is truly an honor
to display your most treasured antique quilts. Onlookers always enjoy
reminiscing while viewing this display. These quilts, old and new, will
inspire you and leave you in awe of the talent that goes into making
these works of art. Some lucky person will win a hand-quilted quilt,
which includes the blocks from last year's block contest. During the
Quilt Show, we are offering a Block Contest; quilting classes; vendor's
mall with those hard to find notions, fabric and other items; and a
food vendor to satisfy that hunger pain. Cash prizes totaling $2,750
will be given away. There have been a few changes in the rules since
last year, so please read and follow the rules carefully.

Participants must use a Baltimore Album pattern of their choice
to hand appliqué.
The blocks must be completely of hand applique.
The
blocks must NOT be quilted.
The
Guild will provide a 16" background fabric and a fat eighth
of green fabric to coordinate with other colors as traditionally
used in Baltimore Album blocks. The finished design must fit into
a 11 1/2 inch square and be centered in the 16" background
square provided by the Guild. Do not trim the block down
to a 12 1/2 " square. This will allow space to construct
the quilt without sashing as was done in the original Baltimore
Album quilts.
The
background fabric provided must be the fabric used as the background.
The background and green fabric will be provided upon request
to anyone desiring to enter the contest. All fabric used in the
block must be 100% cotton.
If you would like fabric and an entry form mailed to you, send
your request and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Quilt
Shoppe.
All
fabrics must be washed and color set (does not fade) prior to
constructing the block. The fabric you receive from the Shope
will be pre-washed. When pressing your appliques, best results
are received by laying the block on a folded thick towel with
the appliqued side down.
Participants may enter two blocks and must complete an entry form
with each block.
Entries
must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008.

Block
entries will be judged on overall appearance, adherence to theme, design,
use of color, workmanship, and fabric choice. The top 3 winners will
receive a cash award of: 1st place - $75, 2nd place - $50 and 3rd place
- $25. The blocks will become the property of the Contented Heart Quilt
Guild and the 30 best-judged blocks will be used to construct a beautiful
quilt. The remaining blocks will be used as the Guild deems necessary
for other projects. All blocks will be on display at the Quilt Show.
