Quilt Show of the Little Mountains Class Registration Form

You may register by completing this form and sending it to the Quilt Shop. You will receive notification of registration being received. However if any of your requested classes are full we will notify you of the class being filled. Pre-registration may also be done by coming into the shop up until August 28, 2008. On-site (Quilt Show) registration will be accepted for classes where space is still available. If you are able to complete all the classes you will have the basic knowledge to complete any size quilt you would like to attempt. These classes are being provided at no cost to you by TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky. Please print when completing the following.

a.

Hand Quilting (August 29 at 9:30 - 12:00):
Enjoy the serenity and peace of mind that comes from stitching a beautiful hand quilted design. Learn about new and old hand quilting tools, batting, needles, thimbles, and quilting threads. Practice the quilting stitch, knots, how to start and stop a line of quilting, and master straight lines and curves. You will explore different techniques on a pre-marked quilt design. Supplies: You will receive a free kit consisting of pre-marked fabric square layered with batting and lining, thread, needle and written instructions. You will need to bring a sewing kit (small scissors, thimble, pin cushion, straight pins, and safety pins). Quilt hoop will be provided.

Hand Piecing (August 29, 1:30 - 4:00):
Before electricity and the sewing machine, quilts were carefully stitched by hand. Learn the generation old method of joining fabric pieces together to make a beautiful quilt. You will learn how to make perfect points, precise seams and graceful easy curves, also receive pointers on pressing and selecting fabric and colors. Great for projects that can be done on the go while waiting at doctor's offices, sporting events, and traveling. Supplies: You will receive a free kit consisting of patterns, pre-cut fabric, thread, needle and written instructions. You will need to bring a sewing kit (small scissors, thimble, pin cushion, and straight pins).

Needleturn Applique (August 30 at 9:30 -12:00):
Create a beautiful Sun Bonnet Sue as you learn the age old technique of Needleturn Applique. Techniques will be shared for smooth curves, sharp points, and invisible hand applique stitches. Also, receive tips on tools, fabrics, and threads that will help make hand applique a very enjoyable technique. Supplies: You will receive a free kit consisting of patterns, pre-cut fabric, thread, needle and written instructions. You will need to bring a sewing kit (small scissors, thimble, pin cushion, and straight pins).

Cathedral Window(August 30 at 1:30 - 4:00):
A pattern our grandmothers used because once you pieced it you were finished. There was no going back to quilt it. This is a beautiful pattern that allows you to use up your scraps and turn out a quilt to be used or displayed in any room. Learn how to hand stitch this beautiful design that has nearly been forgotten. You will be provided with a free kit of pre-cut fabric to make a 12 inch block, pattern, thread, needle and written instructions. You will need to bring small scissors, thimble, seam ripper, pin cushion, and straight pins.
