The purpose of the Contented Heart Quilt Guild is to preserve and promote the art of quilt making by providing an environment for all ages to learn, teach, share their skills, develop fellowship between members and serve the community.

The Contented Heart Quilt Guild was organized in 1989 with only a handful of members who shared a love of the age old art of quilt making. We recognized the need to teach others our skills and also saw the opportunity to help those in need by using this talent.

Now 19 years later, having a total of 50 members with four being charter members, and our primary goals have not changed, helping others through keeping the art of quilting alive. We have truly been blessed with members willing to step up and get the job done regardless how big the challenge. There are always new ideas being shared and lessons taught. The Guild meets on the third Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m. for Lesson of the Month, break for lunch and then proceed at 12:30 p.m. with the regular scheduled meeting. We meet on the first Monday of each month to help each other on our personal projects, mainly Civil War Quilt blocks which we are learning in the monthly lessons. We also meet each Wednesday to hand quilt on the Raffle Quilt that will be given away at the Quilt Show Labor Day weekend.

In 1996, through a lot of hard work and devotion, this group of determined women purchased an historical building downtown Monticello, KY and opened the Quilt Shoppe.The Shoppe serves as a gathering place for quilters to learn from each other, also a place for local artisans to sell their handmade arts and crafts. Among the items for sale in the Shoppe you will find Quilts of all sizes, baskets, woodcarvings, dolls, bears, bonnets, purses, ceramics, prints, jewelry, quilting notions, antiques, collectibles and much more. Members volunteer to run the Shoppe Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. always ready to share their knowledge with visitors.

We are excited about the projects we have lined up for 2008; Quilting Classes (Children's and Adults), Quilt Show, Quilt Raffle, Block Contest.
